Best comedy podcasts

Podcasts have become more and more popular since their conception only a few short years ago. What they are basically is a prerecorded radio show that you can download and listen to at your own convenience. Because of this they lend themselves particularly well to comedy shows rather than current events which would mean they would quickly go out of date and become irrelevant. Because they are so easy to make as they are prerecorded rather than live, and require really very little broadcasting or editing skills to make, they are becoming made on a large scale by amateurs and normal people as a hobby, which is only increasing their popularity. Here are a few of my favorites so far.

Firstly we have the Ricky gervais show, which features the popular British comedian Ricky Gervais, his comedy writing partner and co star Stephen Merchant and radio producer Karl Pilkington.
They talk about a variety of subjects but the shows basis is in strange facts and tales, and Karl's strange childlike views on them, with Gervais and Merchant trying top make him see the logical side of the argument. A particular thing i remember is Karl being unable to grasp the concept of infinity, and the fact that an infinite number of monkeys on an infinite number of typewriters would eventually type the full works of Shakespeare.
The banter on the show coupled with Karl's odd views and gervais and merchants frequent quips make this show a winner. It was also the most downloaded podcast in the world the year it started, and was so successful it has spawned several books from Karl pilkington and is available to buy on CD as well.

Secondly we have the Adam and Joe podcast in association with British radio station xfm. Its main theme is more directed towards movie, television and music reviews and anecdotes from the two stars, Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish.
The two had a successful TV show a few years back of the same name, and this really is more of the same type of thing, and works just as well in podcast form. Adam and Joe is more of a cult hit than a mainstream success, but if you're a fan of random humor and sideways looks at the latest in music, movies and television, then this podcast is definitely for you.
