Formal education surely is better than homeschooling. Homeschooling and old 'Gurukulam' in India are more or less same. Present day formal school is the development of old 'Gurukulam' only. Efficient 'Gurus (Teachers) were not available at all places. Also it was not affordable by many to send their children to far places where few such 'gurus' were available. The same condition prevails even today. It requires more service mind than professionalism to teach students.

Time changed. Now, people with service mind are very limited. Teaching has become a profession. Unless, there is a supervision, we can not expect good results from the subordinates. Today, formal schools are having good supervision and teachers have to work and bring good results through their students.

Practical lesson will help students to learn better than mere reading the theory from books. Costly equipments in laboratories or workshop can be installed in formal schools and not in homeschooling. Practicals will help students learn better. Experienced teaching scholars will train formal school teachers to approach students properly to bring good results. We can not assure the standard of home school teachers.

The foremost advantage in formal school is the group culture. Today's students are tomorrow's national citizens. They have to live among the same people or similar to their class mates. Student life is the foundation to live together by accommodating.

Physical education can be taught in big playgrounds in formal schools to children's individual taste. Is it possible in homeschooling?

Students can improve their knowledge by comparing with other rank holders.

Library with good number of books is affordable in formal schools where as it is not in homeschooling. Students can learn any extra curricular activities like semi army training, scouting, fine arts etc.. in formal schools.

Apart from regular teachers, experts will give lectures on certain special subjects in formal schools so that latest advanced knowledge can be gained.

Parents, if they like their children to know something more like religion etc., it can be taught separately in spare time. Family culture can be taught by the respective family only. If parents maintain their culture at home properly, children also will follow.

General education is a serious matter. It decides the future of the country. It should be broad based with national interest. So, formal education only will improve the children i.e future citizen better than homeschooling.
