Comic book heroes have become such an important part of pop culture that they are finally receiving the overdue recognition they deserve. Since the Golden Age of comic books, the heroes have been inspiring imaginations all over the world. These outstanding characters have motivated us, entertained us, and given hope to thousands of people.

Every year more and more comic heroes are being brought to life on the big screen. Superman, Batman and Spider-man have all been box office hits. Their larger than life reputations, mixed with amazing special effects, have thrilled both the young and old. And it seems that people just can't get enough of their favorite champions. Already movie goers are anxiously awaiting the next two hero films, X-MEN Origins: Wolverine and Iron Man.

And with Halloween soon approaching, our little ones will be dressing up in their favorite super hero costumes. Go to any costume outlet and you will find Superman, Wonder Woman, Spider-man, Batman, the Hulk, the Thing, or the Incredibles. Even adults can get in on the action to. What man wouldn't want to disguise himself as Batman while his date slipped into a Cat Woman outfit?

But putting aside all the glamor and the ritz, comic heroes are also making their way into schools. Many teachers now realize the value of having comic books in the classroom. Because children love to follow the adventures of their favorite super hero, the children are inspired to read the comics books. By promoting literacy, our heroes of yesterday are also our heroes of today.
