Large corporations have the upper hand when it comes to monetary benefits for both the corporation and the employees. Large corporations have the resources to offer a variety of benefits to their employees stock options, healthcare and insurance benefits, 401k options, consistent raises (presuming the employees put in the time and effort!), and so much more.
I have worked for a large corporation for the last few years, and, having also worked for small businesses in the past, I would not trade my current job for any of those past positions. It must be said that, at times, working for a small business can be more relaxed due to the environment and the opportunity to develop close relationships with the owner, boss, and co-workers. However, these benefits are often overshadowed by the scary prospect of the business slowing down
Furthermore, I believe the personable, relaxed environment can be possible within a large corporation. Granted, working for a large corporation usually goes hand in hand with a fair amount of stress and pressure; however, I think it depends on the people within the business to make the environment enjoyable. The corporation for which I work does a lot to make it an enjoyable place to come and do our jobs every day. I have formed and developed friendships there that I can't imagine going without! It is all about finding a large corporation that is suited to and vibes with your personal style.
