Job-hunting has really become a chore. Especially if you were in a workplace for a long time, it is really hard to start over. You really need to know where to begin when searching for a job. Here are my suggestions on how to effective hunt for the right job for you and what not to do when looking for a job.
You need to start with a great resume. A great resume is not something you whipped up in about 10 minutes. You could really spend hours on making your resume something that you would personally be impressed with. You can still have an impressive resume even if you do not have a lot of experience in the field you are trying to get in. Tailor your resume to each job you are applying for. This will make a huge difference.
Make sure that the jobs you are applying for is something that you are qualified for. If you have worked as a cashier at a local grocery store for 10 years, I would not recommend going to their competition and expect to get a store management job. A lot of employers will not go out on a limb and hire you with the intentions you will learn the job with no previous experience.
Practice for an upcoming interview. Go over common interview questions and prepare answers and scenarios that would be appropriate to talk about in the interview. The worst thing to happen is that you would be qualified for the job but not be prepared for the interview. Dress appropriately for the interview. Do not go into an interview with jeans and a t-shirt.
Don't think negatively. If you have a bad attitude about finding a job, you will have a hard time getting motivation to find a job. Continue to job seek. The longer that you are unemployed, the harder it will be for you to get a job. You may not find the perfect job right away, but keep looking. The perfect job is bound to come up eventually.
