You would have to look far and wide to find a richer land of grace and kindness within the American vacation dream spots. The Midwest is truly a land of great lakes and beautiful rivers. There is more history of love, loss and hope for a future than anywhere else on earth perhaps. So much happened and started from the heart of this land when our country was still young. It's the very soul of our frontier history and every child's dreams of cowboys and Indians. Wagons coming west to create the great American frontier crossed these lands of heat, cold with miles and miles of nothing but a quiet kind of beauty. Laura Ingals Wilder wrote her wonderful series of stories about her home in the Midwest so every child can know what families do and how they live in a different time. Indians crossed the plains in search of food each season, raising families and like so many others fading slowly into history. But it's a rich and beautiful history still in creation today.
The people are generous and trusting with hearts so kind it feels strange when you first visit, but after a while you can't imagine any other way people should be. They will help if you are in trouble and they will help even if you aren't. They share without being asked and offer friendship without reservation. They are a strong people who believe anything is possible if you can survive life in the Midwest and they are never short of good advise. If you are hungry they will find a meal for you. If you are lonely they will share a story and laugh with you. If you are new to the community the bring you into the fold like you have lived a lifetime among them.
No matter what part of the world you are from this is a land that welcomes you with diversity in cultures, cuisines and adventure. It can fill any vacation daydream for young and old alike. Cities, lakes, mountains. Camping, hiking, dancing, romancing and memories to last you a life time.
I can't say enough about the Midwest, the heart of America. It is the red, white and blue, Mom and apple pie with all the spice of other cultures. If you have never been to the Midwest for a vacation then I would suggest it as one of the best places to spend a little time. Any where in the Midwest has a lot to offer in fun, history and good old American friendship. There are a lot of great reason's why this is called the Heartland.
