How to have an action-packed week at Copper Mountain

Created on: October 21, 2007

There is something so exhilarating about skiing down the fresh powder of a Colorado mountain that makes the experience quite unlike any other. And Copper Mountain is well-known for its beautiful terrain and fluffy powder snow. At one end of the mountain, there are beginner trails, in the middle intermediate, and on the other side expert trails. If it's your first time: Take a Lesson! Seriously there is nothing wrong with this. It's not like its natural for a human to be shackled to a couple of planks and sent down a snowy mountain! This is a skill that has to be learned and the best way is from a trained instructor who knows how. Most places have a "learn to ski" package including rentals and lift tickets, ask at your lodge.

The Summit Valley resorts, such as Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Arapaho Basin, offer a wide array of beautiful nature and accommodations all within a 30 minutes drive of each other. Summit County has a free bus system running every 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the time of day, from Copper Mountain to various stops in Frisco. For a fun-packed week of skiing in this area, it is a good thought to make accommodations the friendly town of Dillon and then visit a different resort every day.

After a of skiing all day, you'll undoubtedly be hungry as a horse, and may want to put on the feedbag at one of local eat establishments. Until a few years ago, Copper mountain didn't have much to offer in the way of night life and dining, but the resort has brought in a number of bars and restaurants popular with locals, in addition to music festivals in the spring that guarantee big crowds. In the villages, one can find a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops to fit any taste or mood. But the real fun lies down the road in Dillon and Frisco where there are many restaurants, bars, like the Dillon Dam Brewery. Not only only does it offer a fine array of award winning ales and lagers, but it boasts that you can get "Dam Good Food,Dam Good Beer, and Have A Damn Good Time". Treat your special someone to a romantic dinner, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking a view of the mountain.

If you're looking to shop, there are a number of strip malls, a major sporting goods store, and the Silverthorne outlet stores. Colorado also boasts some of the best mountain biking trails in the nation, and there is nothing more romantic then a fall bike ride and mid-afternoon picnic among the vibrant beauty of God's easel.
