I come from Canada and in my region where I live (Quebec), the doctors whether they are generalists or specialists always cross to Ontario where they are paid between 20k and 50k more a year. It's no wonder that they go to other places. A doctor working in my region of Gatineau was saying that Quebec is behind in the equipment they have by at least 20 years! It's no wonder that doctors want to go where the money is and where the equipment to save the people is more up to date. I mean doctors are humans after all and if anyone of us had the option to work in a place where 16 hour days, 7 days a week for a fixed salary or the option to work where they have up to date equipment a salary that pays at least 30 thousand dollars more and 8 hours a day, we would choose the second option without hesitation.

And I mean I do agree that you have to feel a need to make the life of people better but in the end, why do you go to university and study 9 years more than the average people? Because you know that you will get a salary that can make 6 figures. Now I don't know but it take me 3 years of salary to do that and I make a decent salary to make a decent living. When you know you salary can be in the 6 figures, it's enough to be motivated.
