College can be a stressful experience, especially when you find yourself over your head in classes, projects and early bad grades. Usually the bad grades are from lack of study time, because you have so much in your schedule that you cant take enough time for all of your class work. Trying to cram in last minute projects or study time is never a good idea and can lead to bad grades.
Try to set aside certain times after school strictly for studying and finishing projects. Listening attentively and taking notes during class will help as well.
You want to be prepared, when you're falling asleep in class or checking up on myspace, you're not going to get very far. Staying up late at night is probably not a good idea either. If you set aside study time and save your social and party life for the weekends you should start seeing your grades improving greatly.
Talk to your teachers, if there is something you don't understand make sure to ask your teacher about it. They are there to help you succeed. A lot of times during class your professors will ask if anyone has questions and they are willing to assist you with anything you need. Even outside of the classroom taking the time to get to know your teacher can be helpful. If they know that you want to succeed then they are more likely to assist you. When you have trouble with a project, bring it to them and they will give you a few subtle tips.
Make sure to attend all your classes. Missing a few weeks of certain classes can be the road to failure. If you missed your classes and had no choice, try talking to your teacher. They usually have strict rules for attendance, but sometimes they can help you catch up to speed. They will give you the past weeks assignments and if you work hard you can catch up with the rest of the class.
Getting over early bad grades can be easily done if you're serious about improving. You have to keep in mind, that college is only what you make of it. You have to put that effort in. I know from experience that when you take the time for studying, pay attention, and show up to your classes on time, your early bad grades will surely improve.
