Whether you immigrate, whether you do it legally or illegally-It doesn't matter. You still belong to the human race. You live, you breathe, you emote, you bleed, you deserve the same respect and benefits as any other human being deserves. Unfortunately, in the country of America on planet Earth, not even natural born citizens have the guarantee of getting benefits like medical and dental care or even the right to marry, if you happen to love someone with the same genitalia.
I believe people who put nationalism, school spirit, pride in one's country and all that blather above the needs of basic humanship have very little intelligence. Nationalism seems an antiquated concept in this day and age of worldwide connections. I can chat online and befriend people all over the world, from all different religious and national backgrounds and races. Why do I have to show allegience to one particular country, just because my parents happened to live there when they plopped me out?
I believe blind nationalism, patriotism, and allegience to ones country, team, school etc represent the greatest scourge, disease, or blight on the human race. I believe mankind should put their communal efforts (read taxes) toward uplifting ALL human beings. In this world, we need each other. What difference does it make if we happen to grow up in Mexico or London or Iraq or America? People seem so stupid when they say "you came here without going through the proper channels, therefore you don't deserve the status of human being".
Do away with borders! Do away with discrimination! Do away with nations! We all share this planet. We all breathe this air. We all drink this water. We all live in the same existence. Come on people. If an any one person deserves some sort of benefit, then shouldn't we extend that to all of humankind? The world makes up just one tiny speck in the whole of existence. Can't we find a way to treat all of planet Earth's inhabitants the same? If you don't think so, you have a tiny mind.
