Ticket sales do not lie, so it stands to reason that artists such as Sir Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones are indeed timeless. A glimpse at the television lately will paint a picture of a cry for yesteryear. The Michael Jackson saga that has unfolded since his untimely demise shows that these so-called aging superstars have left an indelible impact on the general public.
Mick Jagger sashays across the stage with reckless abandon and relentless zeal in his pursuit of pleasing the audience. The face may be sporting some new wrinkles, and the hair may be thinning and gray, but the heart and soul of the music inside has remained timeless. In a fickle industry such as music, the sounds of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones have transcended generations.
Michael Jackson was about to regale audiences with a final tour, and the tickets were snatched up in a matter of moments. No matter what your personal thoughts are about him or his music, the man was a born entertainer, nimbly traversing his way across the stage with grace befitting a swan.
You just cannot take the music out of the man. These artists have perfected and honed their routines over the years to the point that they know how to woo the fans.
Throngs of concert-goers dictate that despite their age, rock superstars like Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones still pack quite a punch. These so-called aging rock superstars are classic showmen, wowing audiences alike with their zeal and passion for their artistry. The Rolling Stones are timeless, and some forty years later they are still drawing massive audiences, providing auditory beauty for their legions of fans.
The desire to wax nostalgic is something we all succumb to on a daily basis. This is evident by the myriad of sequels in the theaters and the endless syndication on television. The same principle applies to the music industry. Once we, the audience, have found a formula that works for us, we want to hold on to it forever.
Simply stated, aging rock superstars are timeless and ever changing, as many aging rock superstars are maturing and reaching out to a new set of eardrums.
Rod Stewart has put out several very successful albums covering some classic tunes. He has figured out how to keep alive and ironically current. The pantheon of all matters quotidian will fill the air around the water cooler for years to come in regards to some of the newly crowned Kings of Rock.
What will not change will be the unmistakable toe-tapping urge of the general
