Diversity creates tolerance and in turn makes the world a better place since people tend to blend in with the surrounding culture. There are a lot of positive things that one can gain from diversity. As human beings we may be averse to some drastic changes but at the same time we are also looking forward to some break from the monotony of life.
Inter cultural exchanges bring in a lot of diversity to our society. Recently i was reading this article on Chinese Lantern festivals. These festivals are now happening here is America. There is so much art and culture and theatrics that you can learn from these ancient cultures which are possible because of the ability of people to move from one place to another. In another generation i would have never dreamed of being able to witness this unless i was in China. Isn't that amazing?

Accepting diversity may come gradually and it may be hard on some of the older generation to accept this change. That is understandable since the older generation is comfortable with what they had and would not want to change that. For them the olden days are the golden days.

Advancements in technology, industry, transport and science have all been a contribution of the abundance of knowledge and the ease with which we can exchange it now. Every change comes with some good and some bad. As we know we all have to take a few things with a pinch of salt and so also this. But for the little inconveniences we would not want to take away all the benefit it is doing to the society as a whole.

With diversity we understand and learn a lot of things from the other cultures and may be able to imbibe some of the positive aspects of the cultures whether it is in the form of education, religion, social norms or for that matter even food.

Individuals form a society and what we make of it starts from what we contribute to this end. From a personal stand point i feel that if we take the good from this diversity then we make the most of the change that is occurring.
