When life comes in a constant flow of trials and tribulations, it is at these times we need to have the toughness of a resilient emotional and mental life outlook.
Because the world won't stop turning for us to catch our breath, we need to train as hard as any world class athlete, to prepare us for life and its sudden darts of disaster, we need to develop the toughness of spirit and mind, before we need to. Here are a few ways to help prepare you for the trials that come by night and day.
1. Keep Connected. Good interactions with close friends, family or professional associates are important. Accepting help and support from those who care about you and will listen to you, strengthens resilience. Some people find church and faith-based organizations other local groups can provide community support and can help with reclaiming optimism. Supporting others in their time of need also can benefit the helper, when you help others you are helping us all, you included.
2. Avoid Seeing Problems As Impossible. You cannot change the fact that bad things can and will happen in everybody's life, but you can change how you view and react to these trials. Try looking beyond the present to how future circumstances may be a little better. Take notice any subtle ways in which you might already feel somewhat better as you deal with difficult situations.
3. Accept That Life Is Always Changing. Sometimes your dreams and goals may no longer be within reach because of undesirable situations. Accepting situations as they are, without giving up, can help you focus on circumstances that you can change. As the motto goes "Accept the things I cannot, change the things I can".
4. Keep Your Goals Always Before You. Set some realistic goals. Do something new on a regular basis, even if it seems like a small achievement, which helps you to move toward your goals. Instead of focusing on tasks that seem impossible, ask, "What's one thing I know I can achieve today that helps me move in the course I want to go?"
5. Be Decisive, Take Action. Proceed to take action on unpleasant situations as much as you can. Take decisive measures, rather than detaching entirely from problems and stress and hoping they would just go away.
6. Look For The Opportunity To Discover Self-Truth. People often learn something about who they are, finding growth in pain, because of their struggle with loss. Many times when a person experiences tragedy and hardship, they have reported better relations, a greater sense of personal strength even while feeling powerless, an increased sense of self-worth, a more developed spirituality and an enhanced gratitude for life.
7. Cultivate An Optimistic Vision Of Who You Are. Building humble self-confidence in your capability to solve problems and trusting your instinct helps build mental and emotional toughness.
