Unless Vice-President Gore is mediating land disputes between warmongering tribes of polar bears, its unclear how efforts to lower world-wide carbon dioxide levels subscribes to the Nobel committee's parameters regarding world peace. Their pretty flexible I guess.

Over a century before this committee first met, Adam Smith was composing his masterpiece, "Wealth Of Nations." Included in his many insights was the belief that eventually the success of world markets would render the governments of their respective countries almost obsolete. Aside from military protection of those markets, governments would operate on a marginal basis at best.

The growth of world-wide capitalism over the last decade has brought Smith's visions to fruition. The rise in standards of living across the planet is unprecedented in the history of man. While this bodes well for human beings, it does not bode well for the governments that constantly place restrictions on our economic freedom in order to sustain their relevance. As the generations pass, the justifications for the existence for gigantic, regulative government sound more and more hollow.

Screams of pain regarding global warming are the birth pangs of world governments trying to save their species.

There have been many hoaxes perpetrated on the masses trying to provide for themselves and their families. The frauds are sometimes based almost solely on the personality of an individual who guise themselves as saviors of the world. Karl Marx and Marxism immediately come to mind, and more recently L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology have reduced some peoples capacity for critical thinking to that of a squirrel trying to cross the street. Al Gore has merely joined the list of carnival barkers trying to distract me from actually enjoying my cotton candy.

He can go to hell.

Yassir Arafat actually did the world a favor by inadvertently exposing the Nobel committee on peace as nothing but a group of political hacks. But at least Arafat was a warrior; Al Gore is a dilettante. He is the front man for a global government conspiracy that can't stand the fact that industrial capitalism has done the job that they never could. There anger at their own irrelevance is now focused on laying the blame of rising global temperatures at the feet of the worlds producers.

Maybe the Kyoto protocols should begin with the limiting of their own production of hot air.
