Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children." - These words of Walt Disney clearly shows that children are greatest asset of our society. But poverty, unemployment and illiteracy are few factors which pulls a child into the army of child labor. Although Child labor is bad , but alternative may be worse. To prove my statement, some pros are discussed below.
Pros:
1.) Child labor and poverty are complimentary for each other. It has been observed that the expenditure on a child belonging to a lower income group, more or less matches what the child earns at work. If the child does not work then his or her survival would be at stake. In other words, poor families use their child as a survival strategy.
2.) Some times children work with their family members. On the one side child feels secure because they are with their parents and on the other hand parents can keep an eye on their child and also keeps children away from mischief.
3.) It is also argued that by working from early age, child will be trained so he will be more rewarding and potential worker in adulthood.
Cons:
1.) It is a universal truth that time never comes again. A child wants to enjoy his child hood. But when a child is compelled to the labor force, his or her child hood has been robbed.
2.) Because child labor does not get school education, resulting in uneducated and unskilled labor as they enter adulthood.
3.) child laborers work in unhygienic conditions and some times they are abused and beaten by their employers, also they have to work for long hours, which not only hampers their physical health but also mental heath.
4.) As they are not aware for their rights, they make only enough to eat. They don't get right wages.
