Often, when considering applicants for college admissions, the faculty falls back on race to determine acceptance. While they are not trying to be racist, they are following the basic rules of racism, which is excluding perfectly acceptable people based on their color or creed. And I'm not speaking of hating the African Americans, or hating the Asians. Colleges are required to admit a certain percentage of each race. If they have too many whites, or too many Latinos, they lose government funding for classes and supplies.
Harvard, a stately, legendary school, is such an example. Last year they rejected over five hundred acceptable applications due to the applicant being of the wrong race. While I don't believe they intend to respond this way, it becomes a requirement for colleges to stay in business.
Race should never be considered when examining a college application or any other type of paperwork. It isn't right to exclude a person based on whether or not they'll get you funding. The government should be supportive enough of colleges to realize that some years you'll have more of one type than another. College acceptance should be based upon merit, and hard work, rather than what color your skin is.
