Yes the FDA should require food manufacturers to list harmful effects AND ingredients on all food that is potentially harmful. After all, these same people who distribute harmful foods probably wouldn't eat this food themselves, so why should they be allowed to pawn it on unsuspecting citizens! Some people out there are just not aware of what is in the food that they are eating and they should be because they doing harm to their bodies. Unfortunately most people are still of the mind frame that "oh, they wouldn't do that to us. If they it is harmful, they would tell us". But that is not the case. Most foods including fast food and a lot of the food at the local market are very bad for our health, but if it doesn't say that on the label, people are not going to believe it is bad. Take for example frozen dinners. Some of these have labels on them on that say things like "vitamin D added" or "a good source of calcium" and people think that it must be good. However, what the label is not saying is how much processing went into that food and how many chemicals were added to it. After all that is done, there isn't any vitamins and minerals left in the food! And what about MacDonald's and other related fast food joints. Do you see labels on their food stating "if you eat too much of this, you may develop obesity, high blood pressure and other ailments". No, you don't see that, but it is very obvious that this food is not good! But, unfortunately, unless people see it with their own eyes, they won't believe it. This is scary because if we continue to eat this horrible food, we are headed towards a very sick society if we already haven't reached that. years and ago, and I'm talking before the last 100 years, cancer, diabetes and other illnesses were very rare. Why is that? Maybe because people grew their own foods and ate things from the land or homemade food. Since the fast food craze of the last few decades has taken over, I bet anyone can count 2 dozen people close to them who have either dies of cancer or is dying of cancer. Something is not right and people have to start seeing that. A sick society is not a productive one and we have the next generation to worry about. What is going to be like for them if they are brought up in a world where they are taught not to question what they are eating? We'll be on our way to extinction!
