Should the FDA regulate natural supplements and herbal remedies? Simply put "NO".

One has just to turn on the television or pick up a newspaper and see all the recalls and law suits coming into play, all had FDA approval. They range from blood clots to strokes or not doing anything at all! When one reads the possible side effects of FDA approved drugs, its scary.

One example is the Omega 3 is a fish oil, which is a natural supplement. It can be purchased almost anywhere. A doctor told me that a pharmaceutical company was planning on incorporating it in their cholesterol medication. Will it do any good, however, when it is mixed with everything else in the medication plus the added ingredient that is used to give the pill its shape? Or will this minimize the effect of the oil?

If the FDA starts to regulate natural and herbal remedies are they going to include tea and spices also? Chamomile tea, and a tea made from the spice fennel relieves gas and colic.

Just like the products already approved by the FDA, consumers have to educated themselves about herbal and natural remedies. The medical community is now recognizing the benefits of chiropractors, massage therapists, and acupuncture there are benefits to selecting natural/herbal remedies.

People need to educated on the benefits of doing things the natural was, the old way. Does the population need more regulation? This would be opening the proverbial can of worms.
