The words, "to love, honor, and cherish until death do us part", are a part of the marriage vows said across America every day of every year. There is absolutely no portion of these words in which a misguided wife can find justification to kill her and her husband's unborn child against his wishes or without his knowledge. Of course, the husband's consent should be required!
There is no true love in the heart of a woman for her husband that could find it within her being to abort their unborn child against his wishes or without his knowledge because she knows how he feels and does not want to face up to him and tell him she does not want his child. She is selfish and does not consider his desire to raise his child or his emotional well being. Any woman who could treat her husband in such a cold and uncaring manner does not truly love him, regardless of what she might claim. She does not even know the meaning of the word love. The man should be entitled to a divorce on the grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment.
There is no honor in the act itself of killing an innocent, unborn child. There is no honor in disregarding their husband's feelings and wishes or sneaking around behind their husband's back to kill his child. Abortion advocates say it is their choice, their right, what they do with their body. Yes, they had a choice and that choice was to use birth control if they did not want to bear a child. But they try to justify it as though the unborn is not really a child yet. Maybe they should go to a few websites on the internet and view the hundreds of pictures available of aborted fetuses and the tools and methods used to abort the fetus. The pictures are heartbreaking. The abortion advocates would never visit those websites, though, because it is easier to argue if they can turn a blind eye.
Cherish? Cherish means to treat with affection and tenderness and to hold dear. In what part of that word is there room for a woman to kill her and her husband's unborn child without his knowledge and consent?
A woman that truly loves her husband will show him respect and consider his feelings and opinions in any decision she makes. She will rejoice with him in his joys and triumphs and show him tenderness and caring in his time of sorrow and defeat. She is his life partner and they are to lean on one another in good times and bad. A couple who truly love each other discuss all major decisions and make them together, be it whether to buy a new television or who's family they are going to spend the holidays with. I cannot think of any decision of more importance in their marriage than that of whether to bring a child into the world or not.
That is not to say that a woman is to lose her identity or her independence when she marries. A man needs to show his wife the same respect, love and tenderness in return. They should be a true union, a team, a united front against the world. They should always be able to take safe harbor in the arms of the other. A wife should be her husband's best friend and he should be hers.
Why would any person want to live in the house as a spouse with one whom they cannot turn to for comfort, cannot rely on or cannot trust beyond a shadow of a doubt? A marriage without true love and trust is a marriage doomed for failure. I could never trust a person who thought so little of me as to kill my child and do it against my wishes.
