It is a harsh reality check, when the thought of a military draft even exists.
It is most upsetting to know that in already fractured societies,a mom may be the one that gets drafted into the military.
The military has been the calling for women who have chosen to take advantage of what the military has to offer. For many in our country ,it has provided a secure way of living and has offered them the opportunity for an education they may not have attained.
But,I do not believe that women should be forced into service of a country. The negative impact on children and their communities would be great. Families who are already burdened with lower socioeconomic challenges, would be forced to farm out their children as there are many single parent homes. The vision pales in its reality.
In our society, and many others ,it is the mother that "makes" it home. She, in some cases sets the pace and the rhythm of a household. She sees that the children are cared for ,and that they go to school. While our good fathers are often working long hours and some with several jobs to maintain a modest standard of living.
I believe that the forced military draft of women would be the undoing of our society as we know it today. It would have a domino affect. Removing the stability of families today and taking from us all the promises of tomorrows.
It is easy to see,the tears in the eyes of children, hanging on to each other and trying to rock a cradle.
