why is the image so important in music? There are many reasons why. The image is essential just like having good solid songs. If the music is good ti won't matter how it is played, whether stripped down or dressed up a bit. But you have to present a stage persona to help market yourself. It's vital in the industry. Image is everything and creating your own Brand and name is a wise move. some rely on the record companies to tell them what to d, but I think but doing that you limit yourself and you are someone else's puppet so to speak. By doing this it's in some ways a death sentence, because you are doing what other want you to do, not what you want to do.

Being your own creation and standing out and being yourself is important, but unfortunately not everyone can pull it off well. While image is vital and creating your brand and name is necessary, because it distinguishes you from the rest,if you aren't smart and business savvy and oriented about doing it it can back fire on you.

Many have tried to create their own images, but some end up just imitating other artists and what they have done and what's already out there. That's another good way to create an early death sentence.
They are a few artists out there that have done it successfully and still do it successfully. Instead of imitating some of these artists and what they do learn from what they do and how they go about it. Don't imitate create something new and original.

Look at some of the few artists out there that have maintained their own name and originality. Cher she was her own creation and still is. No one can do what she has done and the way she did it. She still is doing her own thing today. When she went solo from Sonny she did it all on her own . She didn't have anyone telling her what to do. She remains one of the few timeless artists out there. Dolly parton is another one.

Many think she is just a giggling blond with outstanding features, but what many don't know is that she is a singer, producer, actress and she is a very smart business woman. She knows what she is doing. She's the only one who has had her look and why because she marketed herself that way, even early on. Don't discredit Dolly Parton because she is a smart and she wouldn't be around today if she didn't know what she was doing and how to get there. Look at Barbra Streisand and what she has accomplished. I mean very few have gotten to her level. Barbra is another example of a good business
