Illegal immigrants should receive some benefits. Basic medical care for those who would come to the United States illegally should be extended.

Many benefits should NOT be given to those who fail to follow the clear, set rules. They should NOT receive public aid such as welfare. They should NOT receive Social Security benefits. They should NOT receive public housing or HUD. They should NOT receive college grants or scholarships. These benefits should be for those who are in the country legally, attempting to become citizens.

America was birthed on the concept that it would allow ALL to enter, but with certain, basic guidelines. If there are those who fail to abide by the rules of entry come and hide within the borders, they should NOT be allowed many of the benefits that are given to natural citizens and those who DO gain entry the RIGHT way.

A Grandfather clause might help those who are in the country illegally come forth to apply for citizenship. I don't think it is right to make people who have lived and worked in the States for 10+ years to be deported when they are discovered or if they try to become citizens. These are likely folks with family who have been born on American soil, separating families should not occur.

The United States should not reward people who bypass rules, but should not allow people to suffer in that same breath. Rules ARE rules for a reason. If those illegally in the States were to apply for citizenship, once they recieve it, they should be afforded every benefit of it.
