What it takes to be a ghostwriter

What it takes to be a ghostwriter. Ego, ego, no not ego. but a lack of ego is the first step in being a ghostwriter. You must be a person who loves to write just for the sake of writing. Have an editor's mind, be literate, know form, and yes have no ego. Being a ghostwriter brings you no credit so you must be a person who derives accomplishment from knowing that your work is acceptable and a necessary job fulfillment.

Many authors are overwhelmed by the numbers of articles they must write for a deadline. That is where a ghostwriter finds his or her vocation. The amount of money you make is determined by your agreement with your author. in most cases it can be very substantial as you will be writing most of the article. You will find that ghostwriting is challenging and very interesting as like being a actor you must assume another personality. The personality of the author you are writing for and their idiosyncrasy.

You have to research the person you are writing for getting to know his personality, his style of writing, his intent, and many other attributes he may have. To do this you must spend some time with him or her trying to acquire a mental picture of how he or she goes about their work. You must read several things that they have written, trying to emulate their writing style. In the end it will come down to how well your author edits the work that you have done. This is very important you must insist that they take the time to read what is written and contribute to the final draft.

Most of the time the article will need very little editing because you have done your homework and tried to write as they would. All that is necessary is that they read what you have written them add the little touches that are, as they see. it the way they would have presented their written word. Most of the time its a tweak here and there, a phrase done in their particular way, a mood they want to convey, sort of like a signature of their work.

Now that your work is done you are officially a ghostwriter and you can take pride when the article is published. You are a working author even though no one knows you but you make a living, no one bothers you, and your dog is still happy to see you! Ghostwriting is a honorable way to make a living and you will find that every new assignment brings a aura of interest and fascination that is not felt if you are the original author.
