When you are selecting a major, you should be thinking of it as part of a bigger package.
Yes, you should choose something that you are good at, and yes, you should choose something that you like and that will sustain your interest, but you should also be thinking about what minors and electives to choose to give you the best overall profile.
For example, if you choose to do economics as a major, mathematics and history are excellent choices as a minor, depending on your skills and interests.
Given the impact of globalization, learning a second, or third, language is one of the best things that you can do to enhance your major area of study and increase your job prospects and portability.
As others have said, you can market any major, but the task will be much easier if you can present employers or graduate schools with a more comprehensive profile.
