Cholitz Directive
Chapter 5
Wednesday
The night and early morning journey proved uneventful. The adrenaline rush in the soldiers make them alert and preventing them from falling asleep. At first light of dawn, the adrenaline surge abated and exhaustion caught up quickly with the soldiers.
Now their bodies must pay the price as they fought a losing battle against tiredness. Many soldiers slumped forward from their seats or crash sideways against their comrades. In the end they gave in to sleep and for a time the interior of the Bullfrogs looked like a container of fallen dominos.
Somewhere in Singapore (Command Center for SAF)
All the essential Situation Room personnel have since reported. Headed by General Tony Tang, Commander of the HQ Command Center, the facility is where instructions and Intel were relayed from and between the units and HQ.
The men and women in charge of manning the Command Center were now gathered therein. Electronic beeps and flaring screens surrounded the personnel who were now being inspected and briefed by the general.
"Okay, all units namely the Commandos, Navy, Artillery, Signalers are in place at their designated positions except for the infantry and armour divisions. We expect that their ETA would be tomorrow morning. Today the Signalers are to reconnoiter the main enemy base with the UAV (Unmanned aerial vehicle) so as to acquire valuable Intel such as the layout of the enemy camp, size of their army and most importantly relay coordinates to the Artillery for the initial shelling tomorrow. Questions?"
One man, a 2nd Lieutenant spoke up," By now, the enemy should be well aware of our incursion. Are there any measures being undertaken or to undertake to counter their attempts at reprisal?"
"The units stationed currently are by no means resting on their laurels. Commando and Sniper units are pricking the enemies' sides by conducting ambushes on routine patrols, taking out stray enemy units etc, immobilizing them with fear and uncertainty. I believe there's nothing much left of their Air Force by now, courtesy of our very own version of flyboys. All that's left is a quick strike tomorrow and its home free to all of us. Remember our primary objective is not to wipe out the enemy but to disable them from a credible invasion force to a crippled one unable to stand on its own legs. By then they will probably self-combust on their own."
