Poetry: First love

My First Love

It happened at first sight
That's when I found my Mr. Right

He was my school days king
We met when I was just thirteen

His eyes just captivated me
They mesmerized me totally

A teen with so much debonair
His walk, his talk, from his feet up to his hair

He was a sportsman, played football
A slim physique, masculine and tall

He walked on tiptoe, full of grace
With long sideburns to compliment his face

His voice just right to make me swoon and sway
I'm glad I met him on that autumn day

When school was through and work became my life
The man I loved asked me to be his wife

As God ordained we were blessed and multiplied
Our first baby was born within November skies

It's true we struggled, had plenty ups and downs
But through it all my smiles outweighed my frowns

He's still the man that makes me blush and sigh
My one and only, the apple of my eyes

The father of three daughters, that he truly loves
The one I knew, God sent to me, from heaven up above

At fifty-three, I still feel like I'm just thirteen
Because my first love, my one and true love, is still the man for me
