Are private colleges better than public colleges? It's really a hard question to make a decision.
For some people who are rich, they think the private colleges should be better than the public colleges, because the facilities and equipment are rich and expensive in private colleges.
Most people have such an opinion: the more you spend, the better it is. No matter what their goal is. They have spent a lot of money to pay the tuition fees of a private college, so they'd better to believe that the private colleges are better than public colleges. Even in most cases, that is not necessary true.
The other common reason is the example effect. As we all know, one of the most famous colleges in the world in the US is the Harvard University, which is a private university. So some people think the private universities must be better than the public universities. I admit the Harvard University is an excellent university in the world, and it is my ideal place to study, but the problem is how many Harvard University in the world on earth. The Harvard University is unique. There's no another private university is as famous as it.
If fame is a standard to judge whether a university is good or bad, we can also count some famous universities in the US, such as the University of Michigan. From this point, maybe the private university and the public university are the same. The reason I think the public universities are better than the private colleges is private colleges have a higher credit standing. In other word, If I study in a private university and I have paid a lot of money. Maybe tomorrow the owner bankrupt and I cannot go to that college again. This is the biggest danger. But this will not happen in a public coollege.
So I think, public colleges should be better than private colleges.
