A good trip doesn't have to cost the earth. Hot springs are fantastic as a spa altertnative, here are a few ideas:
Bath, England - Bath is Britain's premier spa destination. The naturally occurring thermal springs are the very reason for the city's existence (and name). A basic two-hour session costs £19 - but that's before you've had any treatments or hired your slippers. If you're interested contact Thermae Bath Spa at 01225 331 234 or go to www.thermaebathspa.com.
Kerosen e Creek, New Zealand - North Island is awash with hot sulphur springs, and near Lake Rotowhero (between Rotorua and Taupo) is one of New Zealand's best kept secrets. Despite its univiting name, Kerosene Creek features a waterfall that can pummel your back better than any therapist. This attraction is completely free so get your self there on a cheap flight quick! Visit www.nzhotpools.co.nz for more information.
Gadir, Pantelleria, Italy - You'll find quite a few hot springs on this volcanic island between Sicily and Tunisia, but the port of Gadir has the best - and it's free!
Budapest, Hungary - there are more than a hundred hot springs in the Hungary capital, but for the best soak in town head to the City Park and is Szechenyl Gyogyfurdo thermal complex. It's costs about £5 per person, to find out more go to www.budapestthu.ags.myareaguid e.com.
