two detectives solve today?"
Charlie looked at him in surprised bewilderment then broke out into a smile. "Well," he said mysteriously, "you never know who could be hiding just around the corner"

The days just seemed to fly by. For both boys, they were a chance to really get to know each other for the first time. As they got to know each other, they also got to know more about their family's past. Uncle Harry would tell them stories of growing up with six other siblings, including Benjamin's mother Emily. He told them about the Great Depression when they were both babies. He also told them about their grandfather, Moses Pickford, who fought in the Great War, and earned several medals for his bravery.
"I'll have to show you those medals sometime, boys," Uncle Harry said as he finished the story. "They're just a few of the treasures your grandfather left behind"
"Oh, and boys," he added as he stood, "I do not want to alarm you, but there have been reports of some robberies in the area."
The boys looked at each other in shock.
"Now there's no sense worrying about it," he said reassuringly. "I just ask that you lock the back door when you go out." With that, he went into the kitchen, leaving the boys to their thoughts.

The following night, as Benjamin was walking back towards the house, he began to think about the wonderful time he was having. He liked his family, and the city wasn't all that bad. Yes, it had turned into a great summer after all.
Suddenly, he saw something that sent shivers up his spine. Ducking around a corner just out of sight, he watched, too afraid to move.
Down the street was a tall man in a familiar dark coat. He was loading packages and old, antique-looking furniture into the back of a new car. The man glanced around in all directions, and then drove away, rounded a corner, and disappeared.
Benjamin's heart began to pound as a flood of memories hit him. Treasures thieves a strange salesman robberies treasures and now this man. Breathing hard, he ran the rest of the way to the house. A terrible sick feeling was growing in his stomach. Could it be?
