Discover the beauty of Lake Placid, the heart of the Adirondacks. Lake Placid is in the 3000 lakes, rivers and streams region of the Adirondacks, boasting natural, breathtaking beauty, year round. The air is clean, and refreshing.

Lake Placid is the place to be for hiking, biking, canoing, kayaking, nature walks, shopping, skiing, snow-boarding, luging, bob-sledding, family fun, romantic get-aways, mountain climbing, ice climbing, Iron man Triathlon, Olympics, North Pole Theme Park, Exclusive Resorts, fishing, boating, swimming, Tour Boats, water-tubing, river rafting, 6 Nations Indian Museum, ice skating, horse back riding, camping, back packing, fall foliage, sight-seeing, and so much more.

The Mirror Lake in the town of Lake Placid is the premier swimming lake without motorized boats or dumping allowed, this is one of the cleanest bodies of water in the United States. The Mirror Lake has a large population of rainbow trout, lake trout and small mouth bass-perfect for fishing.

Lake Placid is defined as "the quiet lake." It is also one of the cleanest lakes in the country, fed by mountain streams and springs. Residents of Lake Placid take pride in their natural resources and the town's drinking water comes from Lake Placid. Surrounded by the Highest Peaks region of the Adirondacks, there are many attractions to explore, and lots of fish to catch.

Not only is Lake Placid a hidden treasure, it is home to the 2007-2008 Winter Olympics. While the Olympics kick off with the World Cup Luge, November 15-18th, the North Pole in Wilmington, kicks off Yuletide Weekend.

Yuletide weekend kicks off the Christmas season on November 16th and ends the 18th of November, including all weekends up to December 16th. Families can expect to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus, and other fantastic characters. Catch a sleigh ride, and enjoy other rides at this winter theme park.

EMS offers Mountain and Ice climbing instruction for beginners to advanced, year round.

Avalanche Adventures is open year round, and offers adventures indoors and outdoors with climbing walls, bungee jumping, trampolines, arcade, miniature golf, caving and parties.

Lake Placid Skating offers year round figure skating, and ice skating classes as well as a large rink for everyone to enjoy some time on the ice.

Adirondack Flying Service operates year round from 8am to 8pm daily. Take a twenty minute aerial tour of the Adirondacks, and see what can only be seen by air or foot, for only $35.00.
