Physical education and the need for exercise

Being a student, I know first hand what happens in physical education classes. In previous years of schooling students had required physical education classes every day. These classes offered a wide variety of activities such as swimming, running, and sports. All schools were required to have these classes.
A few months before the school year began a school board meeting was set to determine whether or not these classes would continue. It was thought that the most obvious decision would be made. The school board made it official that p.e. classes would be an extra coarse. It seems that our schools in the United States have slipped a little lower in canceling classes. Though at this time there are many controversial discussions about our 'obese America' it seems that these people are in disbelief to something that has practically been planted on there desk. Do they really want to let this 'plant' stay put? Should it put down roots? I think not! We should do all we can to give our students a chance at health. Staying alive is the most important part of having a good, successful life.

If you believe that American children are going to run for 30-40 minutes a day themselves, you can just stay put and see how that works out. I believe we need to make a stand. Stand up for a students right to be taught how to take care of them selves.
