How are you dealing with Climate Change ?
We all know that Recycling plays a part in the battle against Climate Change but of course, its not all that can be done. We all have a responsibility for our own way of life as each of us has the ability and the tools to combat climate change. It is something that we all need to tackle together; everyone, everywhere all over the world, should be striving together to save this beautiful planet that we live on, after all we won't get another chance at it.
The buck does not stop at all of us. It needs everyone's cooperation: heads of Government, bosses of large factories, directors of airline companies, all these and more need tackling head on in our fight against climate change. We are already beginning to see huge changes in our weather systems, strange weather patterns, that we would not normally see.
Here in the UK we are starting to see a large amount of flooding, high winds, even mini tornadoes the likes of which we have never seen.
Our house has started to tackle the problem head on. For instance, I don't have a washing machine, or a dishwasher, which In my opinion are both environmentally unfriendly, and I choose to use my hands. Well, if its good enough for my mum, its good enough for me.
I grow my own fruit and vegetables and bake and freeze as much as possible, this helps me avoid supermarkets and their evil packaging. I use cloth bags, not carriers, because just one carrier bag, placed at landfill, takes 400 years to bio-degrade, and produces carbon emissions while it is there. A small amount I grant you, but just think how many it would be if everyone sent one carrier bag each to landfill.
So what will happen if we don't deal with Climate Change now? Well if we continue to abuse the planet and fill the atmosphere with carbon emissions, the earth with start to heat up. The polar regions will start to melt, which in turn will lead to us losing insects, birds, animals, and huge amounts of rainforests, in fact this has started already.
We need to make people aware of how many carbon emissions are put into the air, every time an aircraft takes off, and how many emissions are put in the air every time we use our cars. I have already vowed not to fly unless in an emergency and in one months time, I am swapping my car for a push bike which will enable both me and the planet to get fit together.
The governments of the world have to understand that to stop climate change, is not just about recycling and figures, meeting targets etc, it has to be about educating both adults and children. If we don't, then there will be no planet for them or our grandchildren to enjoy. All they will have is a barren wasteland, is this really what we all want?
The more we abuse our planet, the less time we all have to save it. Even mother nature cannot deal with the abuse we have all shown this planet and we are all guilty of the abuse. So we need to act now, not just us, we need to rally the governments of the world, airlines, everyone and keep the message going, if that's what it takes to get the message across.
