How to cope when your wedding gets cancelled

When your wedding gets cancelled, you must take care of yourself. Turn to family and friends for support. They will be very concerned for your well being and will want to help you in any way they possibly can. This is not something you want to try to deal with on your own.

You will need to work out what services you had booked that you will need to cancel. Also, what things you might be able to get some money back on, for example, jewellery or clothing. Gifts may need to be returned, make sure you send a note of apology and thanks.

It would be wise to seek the assistance of a professional counsellor. They can help you to air your frustrations and feelings, and help you to make sense of why this has happened. They can also help you to decide which direction you want to take from here on in.

If you had a honeymoon booked, it would be wise to go on it on your own, a holiday could be just what the doctor ordered at a time like this, so make the most of it!

Above all, remember that time does heal all wounds, so be patient and be kind to yourself. Surround yourself with those who love you, and keep busy, too. It is much easier to walk away from a wedding before it happens, than to walk away from a long term marriage, so in most cases, when this happens, it often turns out to be a blessing in disguise.
