I stayed at this hotel for one night on November 2006. I was traveling alone to Bangkok for some retail therapy. I booked a deluxe room from the hotel website.
Location:
The hotel is directly connected by a covered walkway to the Asok Skytrain Station, only 3 or 4 stations away from the major shopping areas at Siam and Chit Lom. There is a Robinsons shopping center directly opposite the hotel. In Bangkok, skytrain is the best way to travel, avoid taxis at all cost, the traffic jams are terrible. I can even get to the Chao Phraya river by taking the skytrain to Saphan Taksin station. From there, I can change to a river boat to visit the major attractions like the Grand Palace.
Room:
I was given a free upgrade to a grand deluxe room, complete with butler service. The staff even asked if I was happy with the room and if I would like to change to a bigger one. But that was nice enough for me. The room was very spacious and luxurious, the furnishings were conservative and elegant. The bathroom design was a little old fashion compared to the newest hotels. I was a little disappointed that the bathroom was tiled, instead of marble.
Service:
Very good. I have stayed at Peninsula Hotel, Intercontinental hotel and Conrad hotel in Bangkok, this hotel provides the best service. The staff seem to be genuinely friendly, and they treated both Western and Asian guests with the same high standards of service.
Food:
The room rate includes a breakfast buffet. Very good variety of food, consisting of both Western and Asian food. It was enough to fill me up for both breakfast and lunch.
Overall, this hotel is one of the best in Bangkok.
