If you've ever endured the heartbreak of a failed relationship with someone who couldn't quite appreciate your pets the way you do, then caring for animals is sure to rank high on the list of qualities you'll look for in a soul mate. But just how and where do you find that special person?
Here are a few strategies for single pet lovers seeking a compatible-and pet-compatible-partner.
First, be alert! Attune yourself to recognize signs of relationships with animals in everyone you meet. Sometimes these signs will be obvious; sometimes they will be more subtle. When you find yourself instantly picking up on even the slightest references to animals in small-talk among coworkers, acquaintances at the gym, or people you meet at social gatherings, you'll know you're ready to spot someone special who appreciates animals.

One big bonus in meeting someone special at the dog park-or anywhere else you can go accompanied by your pet-is that it will give you a chance to see if your pets are also compatible. That is, after all, the other important relationship that must be considered if your new love also has a pet!
Taking up a pet-centered hobby or volunteer project is another good way to get in touch with people who enjoy animals. Volunteer at an animal shelter or a rescue organization. Enroll your dog in an obedience or agility class at whatever level is most fitting for your pet. (Bonus: any guardian who is willing to undertake weeks of training in order to have a well behaved dog is probably a well mannered
