" Dad, I don't get you! You've been bugging me for years to get a girlfriend and now that I have one you're still on me. I thought you'd be happy. At least now you know I'm not gay. Oh, and thanks so much for going behind my back asking all my friends if I'm gay," Luke hissed sarcastically. "You know I would never lie to you about something like that."
"I'm sorry, but I was worried about you," Randy replied lamely.
"Dad, you know I've never lied to you even when it would get me out of trouble. Like the time I broke Mr. Allen's window when we were playing baseball in the street. I could have gotten away with it but I told you. I don't lie, not to anyone but least of all to you and Mom."
"Luke, I know you never lie. I just don't want you tying yourself down with one girl especially when you can be a rock star. You can go so far, Luke, play to thousands..."
"I don't want that," he said stubbornly.
"Oh, yes you do," Randy retorted equally stubborn. " I saw you out there playing to the crowd, Luke. You loved it, you can't fool me. I had that once and it was awesome. You had them in the palm of your hand, mesmerized. You can't buy charisma like you've got. You've got a chance to make it to the top. Please, don't waste it. I'll help you anyway I can. Call agents, clubs, musicians, recording execs, anything to help you."
Luke stared at his father in disbelief. He couldn't deny becoming a singing star wasn't something that would be a thrill beyond belief but did his dad really believe it or was it a ploy to get him away from Alana? "I'm not like you, Dad. That's not what I want. I only want Alana, a life with her, just her."
Randy raked his frustrated fingers through his hair. "You can still have her if you don't want to play the field. That's fine. I only wanted you to try different girls so you wouldn't miss out," Randy said casually, fighting the panic in his chest.
"Miss out on what? STD's? I'm not like you, Dad. I don't want sex from everything in a skirt. Can't you get that through your head?" Luke shouted angrily.
Randy shook his head . "You are so wrong, Luke. You are exactly like me and that's what scares me," he told him nervously.
"No, I'm not! I've only ever wanted Alana, ever since she moved here. I don't know how I knew but I knew she was it for me and I waited for her and I'll keep waiting for her. I'm not having sex until I can do it with her and that's not until we're married so you don't have to worry about that either. I'm not making you a grandfather any
