Shadow Unholy
The legend of Zargor and Shael.
She gazed outside her window at the crescent moon, her mind far away in thought.
To love in darkness, how was that evil?
To worship in light, how was this goodness?
She wept her regrets willingly.
She would not go back to the home she had known.
Fresh air entered the tiny room, filling her with a dulled happiness.
Memories of a life now sold.
Yet with these came the flow of emotions, the passions that ran deeper than the tears on the surface of her skin.
A life handed over in sincerity, devotion, innocence and love.
"It is a relentless attack.
I can not even face the outside world without hearing their spiteful words,
and I sense their knives at my back.
Like claws tearing away my heart,
it is the coldest place and the cruelest place I have ever known.
You cursed me with a glance as you came, and left me without a glimpse as you left.
It is a consuming pain.
It is stronger than the poison you released into my blood.
It has taken control of my soul more forcefully than the light of the full moon.
And the purest silver against my flesh could never wound me as much as seeing you leave,
and knowing you never really wanted me.
I was just another pawn or another gain.
I feel so stupid.
Betrayal is so sickening,
a grand way to cut out someone's heart.
I bare a hidden disappointment,
I feel a hidden anger.
I should have learned when the others stole your eyes away from mine,
to forget that anything in life had a meaning.
Maybe there was a small thing, so insignificant to anyone but me,
that I saw behind your black-hearted stare.
I thought you understood me.
I feared all the little things that they told you when I was not there.
I'd never have been able to compete with the little I could of given you.
Besides, I thought you loved another,
until I felt you".
She let the pen rest for a moment.
"And for all your intelligence my master,
you've never known it is not the kinship that keeps me loyal.
It is love in it's most potent and truest form.
And you may mock me for this but I am willing to take it,
knowing the truth makes me stronger against the cruel damaging taunts that come from the mouths of the selfishly blind."
A breeze gently pushed the door open.
An overpowering presence entered her room, something unseen touched her body.
She froze like a deer startled with eyes wide, fear beating loudly against her ribs.
The pen fell from a numbed hand as claws clasped
