A LETTER TO MY FATHER
Do you see me father?
Do you hear my cries?
You want me to understand you
But all you say are lies
You just assumed I loved you
Without showing me your love
You want me to confide my wishes
Like you were a star from above
You left when I was only one
Too young to understand the truth
To see that you were leaving
Too upset to see the proof
Remember the doll you gave me?
Like it could take your place
I threw it against the door jam
You were the one I could not face
Now you think you can come back
And show me that you care
Without even thinking of my feelings
It's almost too much to bear
So I sit here writing this letter
Trying to understand you
Putting the pieces together
About a man I never knew
