Al Gore has a couple of advantages for the Presidency. For one, he was against the war in Iraq from the start, a position he shares with Ron Paul, Barack Obama, and Dennis Kucinich. Unfortunately, with the exception of Obama, not one of those names is a front-runner for the Presidency. Even Obama trails far behind Hillary on her rankings. So I don't think this is too big a push.
On the other hand, he has a Nobel Prize. And that is generally an indication of something. Intelligence. Our current president is going to be remembered as one of our dumbest Presidents. Surely this is a long way from when John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were competing for the Presidency.
The question that must arise from this is "How much of an issue is global warming?" To Americans, not much of one. Climate problems are simply not an issue for most Americans, we're far more worried about health care, prison incarceration rates, foreign policy, our declining dollar, and other such problems. Many Americans do care about the environment, but not enough to get a majority decision based upon it.
He was a good Vice President, especially considering that he hated Bill Clinton, and he has been a pretty good Senator. But that's not very sexy.
The biggest problem facing Gore as a candidate is that he's only placed about even with John Edwards at 13%, which makes him a third or fourth place runner, coming in late to the nominee process. That means he'll have limited time to get donors and campaign contributions. Which means he'll be weak when the campaigning kicks off. As a third or fourth tier candidate, he doesn't have much to gain by running again.
He also has the problem that the Right-Leaning Media has painted Hillary Clinton as our future President. You heard me, the Right-Leaning media. Every media test done has shown time and again that more political commentators are conservative, that most media outlets are conservative, and that conservatives get more air-time. Unlike the Average Joe that has forgotten the Clinton Presidency, the Right-leaning media has not.
For those who haven't worked with journalism before, you need to understand how the media works, then you can understand how things go. The media selects an angle for a story. It does not deviate from this angle, no matter how badly the facts fit the theory. That's because they know you, the average viewer, thinks they are telling you the truth. The reality is they don't care about the truth, they care about ratings. And easy angles
