Outside of the Well
He sits alone and impatient in his grim well
old, decrepit-
drowning in his own stodgy reverie
Yes, he grants the wishes
but, his own yearnings are immortally paralyzed
He hears the sound of tokens
drip dropping-
riddling through his stagnant atmosphere
He cries painfully to make the wishes stop
His petrifying screams will never escape the surface
He gave up his own mortal soul
blithely,vigilantly-
to save the fleeting life of his true love
He plead with the devil
and his perishing lover fell down and died in his arms
He was banished forever to remain in a wishing well
alone, enslaved-
working every second of his wasted life
for the heartless devil
He shall never again see her eyes or feel her heart beat
He wanted so desperately to break free
liberated,unbound
The devil was known to break promises
but, he couldn't bare to see her deteriorate
His options and time were running out
He will never forget the look on her face
confused,frightened
Every time a passer-by makes a wish
ten years are added onto his miserable life
So, he will live in agony forever
He hears the boisterous laughter outside of the well
joyous, surreal
This makes him ache inside even more-
wondering about the things that could have been
He tries to replace these thoughts with recycled memories
There was one cruel way the curse would be lifted
forevermore, at last
His departed lover must plummet into the well
and wish into his ear for him to be free
His knowledge of this impossibility killed his hope
How could he awake her from the dead
selfishly,vulnerable
He closed his eyes and imagined her there
The bitterness of her absence consumed him
He will never have her again
He opened his troubled eyes
cautiously, unfaithfully
The frayed blanket connected the two lovers
as he felt his dry skin merging with hers
He had been dreaming for three centuries
She was still hopelessly dying in this reality
surely, mercilessly
He didn't want her be in so much pain and misery
but, could not fathom to wish for her a new life again
He kissed her goodbye and plead to the devil
