My message here is one of good choices and bad choices and I want kids to know what can happen when they make bad choices. That's why I'm investing my time and energies today in developing a Performing Arts Center for afterschool children to help them learn there are other roads in life they can take and other choices they can make. I do not want any child, at any time, to believe he/she is backed into a corner with nowhere to go.
It seems that kids nowadays are living in another world. They have lost their way and their empathy. A lot of them don't even care about another person's life it seems. It's so easy for some to take a life away. I'm wondering if they think about it at all or do they not consider "death" the absolute end of life. Somehow, we as parents, are not getting that fact across to our children. They play so many games that maybe they think a dead person is going to pop right up so they can shoot them down again. I don't think so!
It's not in my upbringing to want to take someone's natural life. I cry over the silliest things and a life is not silly at all. Where are our children's feelings? Are they losing them by playing all these violent games and watching violent TV shows and movies? I truly think so. Parents have got to stop them from losing their compassion and empathy for another human being. No matter what, we've got to help our children make it to adulthood. So many are dying as if they were in a war on the streets. Wake up America. Start being the parent that our children are really missing at home. Stop leaving them alone. Start eating dinner with your kids and talking with them. Be nicer to your better half. Show them how people are supposed to treat each other. Practice what you preach.
Also, TV commentators are being seen all over the world and are spewing negative personal beliefs to all who listen. We must, therefore, find out what our children believe about what they are hearing. If your child ask your opinion (pro or con), let your child know why you have that opinion and tell them you would like them to form their own opinion and not take on somebody else's too quickly. Tell them to investigate the issues further until they can speak from knowledge instead of from listening to possible "biased" information from others.
Our children do not realize that commentators like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity are improvising on real news issues with a biased opinion of their own. These commentators don't speak for everyone in a "fair and
