People who shun another persons spirituality are inconsiderate and ignorant. However, people who shun spirituality in general just have a different opinion.
No one HAS to be spiritual if they don't want to be. Each individual has the right to their own individual beliefs, and if that means not agreeing with spirituality at all, be it the person is athiest, or agnostic, or just completely apathetic to the topic in general, that is their right. You can't expect everyone to be accepting of every concept of religion. Just because they don't feel it is something they want as a part of their lives does not mean they shun the idea.
No matter where you are or what topic you are referring to, there are always going to be different opinions. Maybe someone hasn't found a reason to believe in spirituality. Maybe someone was a believer but experienced so many things through out life that they lost the hope they once had. That doesn't mean they are being quick to judge just because they don't agree with what you are preaching to them. Many people who aren't religious or spiritual have put just as much though into NOT believing as you have into believing.
Personally, I may not agree with what everyone believes, but I most certainly agree with their right to believe in it. I respect a person who is athiest just as much as a person who is religious. I don't believe that person is "shunning" religion just because they have chosen not to accept it as a part of their lives. Until a person vocally or physically shows disrespect for my spiritual views, I have no problem with them having their own set of opinions and beliefs.
Perhaps instead of people being so quick to "shun" spirituality, you are being to quick in assuming that they do. People just need to listen to and appreciate difference more. Just because someone is not like you, doesn't mean they dislike you. And if they do, that doesn't nessecarily mean they chose to not like you with no reason. Unless you know that person, you don't know what their reasons are for shunning what you believe. Just agree to disagree. Live your life, and to each his own.
