Explaining the modest status of women in Islam

I watched on the Discovery Channel a 16 year old girl being hanged in Iran. She apparently had committed crimes against Islamic laws of chastity. This was her fourth offense, therefore, she was sentenced to death. Although the impropriety was on the part of the man who (he was much older than she) raped her, he was sentenced to 90 lashes.

At her first offense, she was sentenced to 80 lashes. It was explained on the documentary that they start the beating at the feet and work their way up the back. They showed the bruising of someone after they had been so beaten. She had been sitting in a car alone with a man. It was her cousin. It didn't matter.

How in the world can Islam say that they honor women when men are able to oppress them at will? How can they say that they are a peaceful religion when they railroad the killing of a child for crimes against chastity? How can they say that they love their families when beating women is acceptable in their society?

I am for a woman being modest. But to be arrested for showing one's hair, that is obviously a law made by a man who is lustful at heart and instead of placing the blame where it belongs, on his sorry self, he says that a woman must not show even her hair. The Islamic Moral Police are abusive people who can beat up and bully women and children at will.

They say that they respect their women, how can they say that? The age that a "woman" is allowed to consent to having sex is NINE. I find this religion to be incredibly oppressive to women. I find that this religion hides child molesters and terrorists.

Any religion that says that a man can have any woman when she is the ripe old age of nine is a religion that is made up of men. Men who are drunk on their own power. Men who like the fact that they can do what they please to a woman and then have her arrested.

Is it modesty or is it oppression by lustful men unable to control their desires? Is it modesty or is it protection from rapist who will never be punished for their crime...but the girl will? Is it modesty or is it control?

There is no God but Allah....how can oppression honor their God? I am appalled that this religion has become so powerful and that people still insist that it is a peaceful religion. It is not. It is one of judgment, violence, hate, lust, and laws that favor only men.

Modest Status....whatever......
