Poetry: Self-reflection

Deep Inside:

Staring back at me

Sitting on the floor leanining against the door
Tears flow deep from within the core
Scared to see who she really is
She knows she can no longer hide
She knows she must swallow her pride
It's time to stop hiding deep inside
She knows she cannot run away
In a world in which she was so afraid
She knows her life cannot be remade
She knows it's time to face who she really is

The room begun to spin
The sheet fell to the floor
She could not hide anymore
She searches the mirror not knowing what she's looking for
She touches her face to see it react
Now she sees she cannot wear a mask
But doesn't know who is staring back
She looks at all the pictures on the floor
Women beautiful that she adored
She takes her hands and scatters the pictures across the floor
Anger rising as she realized the lie
She hid her face her own reflection
She wasn't what other women would adore
The pictures now all over the floor
She screams no one looks like that anymore
She laid her head down and cried
Trying to understand why
She then remembered all the people she passed on the street
Though she tended to look at her feet
She saw none of those girls that were lying on the floor
She stood up and looked closer and knew it was really her
She stared back at herself ashamed of what she saw
Then she looked at the pictures again
It took a second to finally see the truth
She picked up all the pictures
And held them tight with all her might
She pulled out the trash can and dropped them in
One last glance in the mirror
Then she realized modeling was just a career
She dropped the match in
Pictures burning slowly and she caught herself smiling
She passed this new trial
Removed her mask knowing no one really looked like that
She let the flames burn away the images that fooled the world
She just stared knowing she was freed
She would no longer be the one to read the lies
That made many women cry
As they looked on at who was staring back at them

    IS IT JUST ME?

How do I begin to explain to you how I feel about all this?

    I no longer love you.

    I remember!

    There's a sense of remembrance
    Of who I am!
A knowing in my soul that gives me strength
    And I smile, for there's

    The View

I sit here on these jagged rocks
    Looking out across the sea.
A strange black hound lies on the ground
    Its head rested
