Former Vice President Al Gore's compelling documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth" awakened many Americans to the plight of our earth and its dwindling natural resources. Compelling images of unusual floating mantras, state-size chunks of icebergs falling into the arctic sea, El Nino's ravaging impact around the globe, and polar bears drowning from lack of land mass - No wonder Gore candidly described such a bleak horizon as a "PLANETARY EMERGENCY!" calling major world powers to revive a geographical conscience and help curb an impending disaster! It is a powerful, moving film that brought tears to my eyes; a deep concern that is long overdue; a deep global concern that is long overdue and Mister Gore definitely deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
Gore has devoted untold hours of research of this ecological phenomenon and rare climate change that are dramatically affecting every living thing. His resilience reminds me of the National Geographic scientists who were the first to sound the alarm nearly twenty years ago. Is it any wonder why so many people are going "green" these days? He certainly deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his honest and heart wrenching film that is neither Hollywood glamorized nor a sugar-coated reality. It is a factual chronological assessment of what is happening to our planet and why mankind is responsible for its demise. He didn't just highlight the flaws and doom, but he hearkened anecdotes and efforts that each and every one of us can do to contribute to salvaging what's left of our precious beautiful planet. A public figure as profound as Al Gore calling attention to a serious issue as global warming and environmental dangers has certainly opened my eyes - far more opened than they already were since I am an avid supporter of many environmental causes.

Although public awareness campaigns were pretty much in your face about pollution, a wide majority rarely paid heed to the messages plastered on billboard signs or the stoic faced tearful Native American staring down at debris on a mountain and burning gas billowing in the air. Most people ignored these powerful messages, culminating into the present day disasters we are bearing witness to; disasters that can no longer be ignored. Al Gore's film seems to capture the profound
