This story took place in a very small town in Georgia. When I say small, I mean less than 500 people in the entire town. This town was well known for being a speed trap. There was a Police Officer that patrolled the town at night. He usually sat in his patrol car in the parking lot of the convenience store or by the light company. He would watch for speeders as there wasn't a lot more than that going on in this town.
One night this officer was riding through town and saw a friend of his coming out of the post office. He pulled his police cruiser along side of this friends car and they chatted for a while. When all of a sudden a speeding car came zooming through town at a "high rate of speed". He advised his friend that he was going to go stop this vehicle. He pulled out into the roadway and flipped on his blue lights and off he went in hot pursuit. He finally caught up with this speeder just before he reached the city limits sign. The officer radioed his dispatchers and gave them his location and got out of the car. He approached the speeder and asked to see his drivers license and insurance information. The speeder complied with the officers request, but asked what he had been stopped for. The officer replied you were doing 60 - 70 miles per hour back there in a 35 mile per hour zone. The speeder asked if the officer had clocked him on his radar. The officer replied "I don't need a radar, I tell by how long it takes you to get from the red light to the police department. The speeder looked up with a smirk on his face and replied "Oh really I have been with the Georgia State Patrol for almost 15 years and they haven't taught me to do that yet, you think maybe you could teach me that technique?"
The officer just handed back the license and insurance card, and told the speeder to have a good evening. I guess his technique had not been perfected just yet. This is the story as it was told to me, whether it actually happened this way or not I am not sure, but it sure was funny when I heard it.
