Do you ever get tired of haggling with dealers who tug at the whims of your heart and fists at the same time? I did.
There is an easy solution. If you are considering purchasing a new car to show off in your drive way I strongly and most definitely recommend contacting dealership internet sales managers.
You never have to go in and put up with their crap! You can talk to them and haggle via email in your off time or hourly email check up at the office. What's better yet... you can play them against each other with written proof of an offer that beats their "lowest price around" deal.
And there you'll have it, a detailed layout of what the car you want offers with their lowest price and a guarantee that they will beat so and so deal across town by at least $200. And guess what! You never even had to step foot inside their dealership to get your lowest price on a new car in town. Now that is what I'm talking about.
Some other useful tips for purchasing a new car are as follows:
1. Do your research (the internet is a great resource for forums and picture galleries for you to check out about cars you like)
2. Email dealers (have them come to you via email or a phone call, don't leave home until you're ready to test drive)
3. Test drive all of the models (you might be convinced you NEED a stick and find out upon test driving that the manual for that car is squirly at best)
4. KBB (Kelly Blue Book is the standard guide for pricing period, ignore dealers who state otherwise)
5. Don't buy at the release of the new year (wait 6 months for the rebate on the same cards, you're pocket book will be glad you did)
6. Talk to someone who purchased a similar car and get their thoughts on the vehicle
7. Once you've decided to buy and you're sitting in the finance office talking about "extended warranties" and "extra coverages" say NO to everything and start watching the interest rates and prices drop. It's brilliant.
8. Check out aftermarket (don't do anything that would void a warranty, but you might find that ebay will sell you the spoiler for your car at 1/2 the cost of the actual dealership)
9. Sleep on it (if it feels wrong, it probably is... most dealerships offer a 30 day return policy to questions asked)
10. Do it (you'll enjoy not taking it into the shop every other month because the previous driver of your "new" used car drove it like a bat out of hell
Good luck!
