Having never had an opportunity to date after splitting up with my ex-husband, I resorted to seeing if I could make friends at work. So, there he was; a man, a co-worker, recently divorced with 2 older children. What a catch! I thought, perhaps I should just ask him to have breakfast with my son and I sometime. He accepted. He fell in love immediately with my son. To make a long story short, we went out a few times, moved in together and then, it was over. The moral of my story is that when I decided to move in with him, I said, "You are not making a commitment to me, you are going to be making a commitment to my son." That sounded a bit weird since I was the one in the relationship however, he understood the impact of having a father around had on a young boy and how he could be there for him as well. Most people think of only of themselves when it comes to love and rarely, oh so rarely, do they ever think of the effect it has on their children. So, my advise ladies is that before you get involved with someone just be sure that they are there for the long haul before you bring them home to meet your children and make sure they will be around after if things don't work out. Mine is.
