Is it not possible for Creation and Evolution to be the same thing?
First we must understand each to make a logical conclusion of whether they could be the same thing. Creation is the story from the book of Genesis in the Bible that tells us that the world was created in seven days by God with God working on six of these days and resting on the seventh day. The Bible was first written in Hebrew so translations may not always be completely accurate. Evolution is the theory started by Charles Darwin that challenged the belief that God created the world in seven days as summarized from frif.com.
Please take into account that the story of creation as written down in the bible is factually incorrect since fossils have proved that animals roamed the Earth millions of years ago while the Bible suggests that the Earth is only 7000 years old. So what? That neither proves nor disproves the existence of God. The bible is a work of Man, inspired by God. But Man is not God, and is therefore imperfect, subject to making mistakes and misinterpretations. The things we create, whether buildings, bridges or writings, are potentially imperfect as well. We are only human, after all.
If a small child asks, "Where did I come from?" it doesn't help his understanding to launch into a detailed explanation of human anatomy. Instead, we tell a simplified story, secure in the knowledge that, as the child grows up, a more complete answer can be given as new concepts are learned.
The story of creation is evidence that we have been curious about our origins for a very long time, since before written history. "Where did we come from?" is a very simple question to which there is not a simple answer. People thousands of years ago were not stupid, but their world and language simply did not encompass the concepts necessary to understand a more complete answer.
So the best God could do in attempting to explain the nature of the world he created, was to give simple answers that would be understandable to the people of that time. Then, as we have developed over generations and increased our understanding of the world, we can "fill in the blanks" for ourselves in understanding our own origins.
God's purpose in telling the story of creation is not for it to be taken as an absolute truth, but to get us thinking; to inspire our own discoveries of how things work. Evolution, therefore, is simply a better understanding of God's creation, and brings us closer to God.
Please note that "the Hebrew word for day is Iom, which means both day and a lengthy period of time which is undetermined" as cited from orthodoxresearchinstitute.org. Another point to bring up is that on each day the Bible concludes with "And it was evening and there was morning the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth day" but the seventh day never concluded with this simple phrase which would make it seem like it is still in existence today. Thus what is one day in the Bible could equal millions of years to what our knowledge can encompass in the present day. In the present day we say that one day is equal to one rotation of the Earth and days can vary according to what a day is based on. God's day could be based off of any source or he just used it as a simple term that could be thought of at the times when the Bible was written. If there was no concept of a day from when the Earth was first made, then how can we literally believe everything in the Bible. None of us were around when the world was made but living life and looking for the truth can help show us some of those answers that we desperately want. People just have to keep an open-mind and then they will see how so many things can make sense at the same time.
