The first time I seen the first "Dawn of the Dead", I loved it. I'm into zombie movies, but it still freaks me out knowing it could and actually happened but not to the extent they have done in the movies. Back when it was made of course they didn't have the big effects, or good make up and clothing, but as the years went by things got better. To my opinion for what year it was in it was pretty well made. The whole plot and movie fit in, no off spots. It was about these people who are fighting off zombies in one country, they decide to take a helicopter out and along the way they run out of gas. They stop to get gas and get trapped for just a bit by zombies. So they decide to go stay at the mall and live their life there. It wasn't the best life of course, but they had everything they needed, after they got rid of the zombies in the mall they locked the rest out. They all went shopping. Through the middle, like usual, a bunch of people come in and try to raid the place and ends up having the zombies all come back in and a few get killed, and bitten. From there everything goes hay wire, only a few make it.
Now for the new version, it's a little different. It follows a lady who is working as a nurse in a hospital and she goes home to her husband. Next day to be greeting by a zombie. From there they follow her and a few others she runs across in the movie. They also decide to stay at the mall, and get rid of all the zombies that are already in there. They run into a few security guards who didn't want them there, but they get passed it. From there they stay using what they can find. A truck load of people come in and everyone gets their life risked to help them in. Through the movie they get to know each other and help each other out. They decide to fix up two buses to take to the boat at the dock to go to a island thinking there are no zombies, at the end they were proven wrong. They get approached as the camera cuts in and out.
The new version of course has better effects (especially the explosion part of the film), known actors/ actresses, and the zombies are more challenging to get away from, as in the old they walked, in the new version they run. Not only that but they use (hope this don't offend anyone) disabled people in it, using their disability as part of the role. It gives everyone a possibility. They have the ability to use make up and costumes to help them be in the movie too. The new version is great, the old one was too, but I'll watch the new one over the old one any day. It's one of my favorites; I watch it quite a bit. If you want to see it, I recommend you see the old one, then the new to compare each other, and make your own decisions. Everyone has their own opinion. And in mine, I love the new version the most, mainly because the challenges and the special effects.
